1. Sense
of Belonging
The
family structure is often so fragmented that people don't have a feeling
of belonging. Also, the mobility of our society plays a part in the lack
of feeling they belong. The reason gangs are so on the rise is that they
make the teens feel that they belong to something and someone. If people
have a group of people that they can feel a part of they won't search for
acceptance in the world's clubs.
"To the praise of the glory
of His grace by which He made us accepted in the beloved." Ephesians
1:6
2. Stability
We
live in unstable times in the natural but in the body of Christ we can and
should have stability. Those who are new believers or have come back to
the Lord need a cell group that will help them become stable in their walk
with the Lord. These people need strong believers who will speak the Word
of God into their lives and help them to grow up spiritually.
"Therefore my beloved
brethren, be steadfast, immovable, always abounding in the work of the
Lord, knowing that your labor is not in vain in the Lord. - I Corinthians
15:58
3. Safety / Security
A
cell group can be a safe and secure environment for people who have
suffered abuse, rejection, failure and low self-esteem. Many of these
groups will study a particular subject to help them overcome in certain
areas of their life.
"And being let go, they went
to their own companions..." -Acts 4:23
4. Support / Strength
When
the storms of life come there is need for a group of believers who will
pray for us, encourage us, and be there when we need them. These groups
often help with practical needs as well.
"Now all who believed were
together and had all things in common, and sold their possessions and
goods, and divided them among all, as anyone had need." Acts
2:44-45
